Total running time: 0:42:50
Crepusculum is Fred Baty, a young lad well-known to those that have been around with 12rec. for a bit longer. His “Sky Diaries” EP was a huge success back then and makes hearts melt even today. The accompanying remix album (in cooperation with Zymogen netlabel) remains one of the most elaborate projects carried out at this place ever. We are more than happy to have Crepusculum back with his full-length debut “Sing on in Silhouettes”.

Dresda – Pequod

Dresda

Label: Asiluum
Release date: 2009
Total running time: 0:33:21
Dresda is an instrumental band from Genova, Italy, born in ‘05. Their name comes from the novel “slaughterhouse-five” by Kurt Vonnegut.
“We are influenced by the post rock movement, and most of all we are involved in soundtrack music, as we try to represent and to emphasize with our songs some never-shooted cinematic sequences.”
We like to define our music as “frontier music” or as “an accompaniment of your favourite character fading out in the fog”

Tinitus – Me Asusta EP

Tinitus

GENRE: Electronic, Ambient, IDM, Experimental, Trip Hop

Label: Pueblo Nuevo
Release date: 2008
Total running time: 0:31:02
Directly from Montevideo (Uruguay), comes Tinitus, with a handful of fables, paper ghosts, confetti, and water painting. Out of the blue, we face a cast of characters coming from a narcotic delusion, a trip thru free, toy sounds – that, in fact, don’t scare, but… kind of puzzle you…
Along the way, we find bewitched islands, as we play mind games with Abdul – the surrealist poet – and one or two incontinent, retired vampires.
In his tracks, Tinitus explores structures not following the usual frames/progressions, defying us to follow his sonic search. In this respect, “Me Asusta EP” is a sampler of his loose approach and sense of humor, as well as an invitation to keep lurking in his material

03 – Abdul Me Asusta
04 – Mearse en la Cama

Loss of a Child – Carry Me Home

Loss of a Child

GENRE: Rock, Alternative, Post Rock, Math RockIt worth a try!

Label: Lost Children
Release date: 2009
Total running time: 0:46:19
‘Carry Me Home’ is the 5th Loss of a Child release and is their most expansive yet, a deeply layered album with flowing and interwoven melodies; contrasting instruments supporting, offsetting, and harmonising with each other and mixed for each to be heard though not necessarily under every listening environment, and certainly not on first listen; experimental through its strict structure and detailed song writing as opposed to the freedom and improvisation of many instrumental acts.
Complex instrumentation hidden beneath simple ideas, dynamism created within the melodies in addition to volume, and the standard multi-instrumental Loss of a Child approach providing many hidden melodic passages requiring repeat listening to find and understand, but each proving that the obvious is not necessarily the best when it comes to musical depth.
Available in FLAC!

Mechanical Butterfly – Mechanical Butterfly

Mechanical Butterfly

GENRE: Rock, Progressive Rock, Hard RockIt worth a try!

Label: Jamendo
Release date: 2009
Total running time: 0:20:07
The project was founded in 2005 by collaboration between two guitar players: Alessio Oranges and Dario Laletta, with the assistance of John Valastro at woodwinds and keyboards. The two guitarists compose songs of rock matrix with various contaminants of the use of sampled sounds for programming the drum parts. Thus was born their first CD titled.
Subsequently joined the group Andrew Zappala, on drums, and Joseph Padalino, on bass, both already members of the cover band Arachne. After a few months also joined the band keyboardist Laura Basile.

Lucette Bourdin – Radiant Stars

Lucette Bourdin

GENRE: Electronic, Ambient, Space, Drone

Label: Earth Mantra
Release date: 2009
Total running time: 1:10:57
“Radiant Stars” is one of the deepest and most elegant ambient releases we have ever heard. Three magnificent and extraordinarily patient pieces await the listener, the shortest of which is over fifteen minutes long, and the longest of which spans more than a half an hour. To call the music immersive is to understate the case. The music is restful and soothing, lush and contemplative, but with the perfect amount of activity and tonality. Amazing work.
Listening to pieces like “Look Up to Outer Vastness”, one is struck by the sheer virtuosity Lucette brings to ambient music. She very well may be one of the best ambient artists making music today. Why she is not releasing albums and scoring films at the highest levels of the industry is completely beyond comprehension. Simply immaculate music, performed by a master of the genre.
Earth Mantra is very proud to be bringing her music to our listeners, and we look forward to many more releases from her in the future.

01 – Calm Lamps
02 – Look Up to Outer Vastness
03 – The Stars Which Sang

Marihiko Hara – Cesura

Marihiko Hara

GENRE: Electronic, Ambient, Soundscapes

Label: Zymogen
Release date: 2007
Total running time: 0:48:52
Cesura, Hara’s debut album, emits melodies that have been compressed into subtle layers and thin sound-scapes.
The piano is his trademark, and when coupled with the other acoustic instruments he employs, we get digital samples that float endlessly via loops and high frequencies throughout the entire album, as in ‘Sleep’, ‘Cesura’, and ‘Konstellation’.
Marihiko Hara designs minimal sound sculptures with poetry and soul, gives weight to pauses, and breaths life into silences and melodies without emphasis.
Cesura is such poetry.
