“The first time I saw Where the Moon Came From, they were playing catch in the middle of the street. And taking their sweet time to get out of the way of my car. Four dudes, all long hair, jeans, and cowboy boots, I’m thinking “you gotta be kidding me.”
Twin of Pangaea is like that except the guys are tossing bass amps and guitars and an Echo Plex and an old reel-to-reel and harmonies and huge choruses and another Echo Plex. But damn, they can’t catch for shit. The bass rig goes clear through someone’s bay window and the tape machine dents a bumper and I’m watching this thinking “you gotta be kidding me,” until a guitar solo comes screaming my direction and dings the windshield sending spiderweb cracks through the safety glass before shattering apart. One of the longhairs shrugs, “sorry man.” There’s glass in my damn eyeball but I say “that’s alright, it sounds good, man. It sounds good.” Because it does.”
