The Caretaker

GENRE: Electronic, Ambient, Dark AmbientIt worth a try!

Label: V/VM TEST Records
Release date: 2001
Total running time: 0:49:56
The Caretaker project began in late 1996, undoubtedly inspired from the ballroom scene in Stanley Kubrick’s “Shining”. The first release played and extended this theme of altering 1920′s and 1930′s ballroom music creating an eerie and haunted soundworld. Subsequently the sound has become darker and often more abstract over time, moving away from the initial idea of a haunted ballroom into territories involving the mind and its abilities to recall memories.
On this second release we find The Caretaker building ballrooms for his tracks, and then populating them with the ghosts of aristocratic dancers of days gone by. The band is somewhere in the back while hallowed spirits wander back and forth in slow motion, never breaking stride amidst a hazy ambient atmosphere. Everythng building nicely for the final two tracks which sound almost heavenly and spiritual, recalling masters of soundtrack work such as Angelo Badalamenti. Released to immense critical acclaim.
Thanks Buz fot the heads up on this :)
