Elisa Luu (Elisabetta Luciani) is a Rome based composer.
She begins her music career as a saxophone player, moving freely from fusion to jazz.
Elisa Luu has been involved in many music projects over the years, including fusion quartet Prodotti Speciali and Short’s Monday Night Jazz Orchestra. She participated to Berklee Jazz clinics where she got a special mention as alto sax player. In 2007 she decided to move forward and started to compose electronic music and in 2008 she released her first EP with Phantom Channel, a UK based net label. Surrounded by her two beloved dogs, she works in her home studio, away from the madding Roman bustle.

«Our russian ambient master Philip Croaton returns home, this time with a reissue of a 2008 CDR-only (and very, very limited) release called ‘Easy’. Once again, he worked with long-time collaborator Ilia Belorukov on saxophone but also with Maxim V. Komov on guitar and Tatiana Komova on spoken word.
‘Easy’ is a deep ambient masterpiece, with heavily melancholic and sometimes dark soundscapes. Sci-fi soundtracks also come to mind when listening to ‘Abandoned’, specifically Cliff Martinez’s ‘Solaris’ work – curiously or maybe not, this film is a remake of a 1972′s original, by Andrei Tarkovsky, famed russian filmmaker. Another film that comes to mind is ‘Stalker’ (1979), also from Tarkovsky, but in this case is the ambient of the narrative itself that Croaton’s music evokes, post-apocalyptic and abandoned facilities, near damaged nuclear plants and the like. ‘Stalker’ also inspired a video-game franchise with the same name (also russian made) in which ‘Easy’ would fit like a glove as soundtrack.
‘Abandoned’ is easily the best and most accomplished track by Croaton on this release, a true ambient masterpiece, simple, dense and deeply nostalgic.
The production design and mastering is also of note. Every single bit of ‘Easy’ sounds as if it was processed using very old, very vintage synthesizers and devices, giving it all a sense of russian analogue production. You imagine rooms filled with wall-heigh electronic machinery working to produce all the sounds you hear.

Alex Alarcón started his music adventures when he received during his childhood a toy synth as a present . This little device was used by him to play the songs he listened from his old brothers music collection, from vintage electronica to prog-rock, among others. Afterwards he began to play the guitar and recording-touring with a band, but then he discovered the advantages of working with synths, samplers and sequencers, he began to work alone as a unit.
Once he finished his university studies, he started to work in a musical instruments distribution company, dealing every day with music software and hardware, avoiding this to gain more technical skills for his music.
At 2003, he released his first LP on German label Italic under his Sustainer alias, heavily influenced by dubtech classics, while showing interest until nowadays, for non-beat oriented music, while curating some small festivals, managing his own and now defuncted record and book store, offering small audio workshops and widening his musical knowledges in sound design, electroacoustic music and field recordings.

Since 2008, his work is based on random self-generated music made with modular devices, acoustic instruments and amplified objects.

The width of northern Canada. Home to an anonymous musician who goes by the name Anime Hill. In his own words, his Album for the Petcord netlabel “Fevered Dreams” is substantially different from earlier works in that it is not as dark, more experimental and equipped with an ambient look and feel. The tracks span from “very deep ambient drives” to “sort of electronic pseudorhythmic fun” and others that show some efforts in sound design. In a certain way, the work seems to resemble the characteristics or the north with its melancholic mood and spacious sound dimensions. During the course of the album, Anime Hill also exhibits a weakness for modulated analogue synth sounds, aesthetics that are shared with other Petcord artists like Fosel or Osoroshisa. So in case you enjoyed these releases there is a fair chance you will like this release, too.

“Riding in a Fail Boat” was written during a time of transition much of what you hear is meant to put images in your head. While doing some traveling in the Eastern parts of the United States Burke took influences from his time. In the music you can hear things that are meant to sound like train tracks, cars, and other aspects of urban life. Sleep was another large influence on this album. Whether it is sleeping in trains or run down apartments, the music tries to capture that dream like state, including its uneasiness.
